etnies & LRG presented Canadian Concrete Kirkstone

After being rained out last year for the first time ever, this years Kirkstone park jam was almost 2 years in the making. The pro class had some heavy hitters competing for cash and the glory that is Kirkstone. The only time Wade Lajlar (Verde, etnies, LRG) has not won there was when he was unable to attend. On this day, he was up against New Zealand Macneil rider George Bolter, S&M’s Matt Desson, and a bevy of others who wanted to dethrone the brakeless flair master and go home with some fat pockets.
On this day, everyone riding for the loot might have gotten off a little easy, as Mr. Lajlar was hurt and couldn’t ride too much. This left the door open for the smooth as silk Kiwi to take top honors, and the tech as heck Desson to bring the roof down with one of the craziest lines witnessed there. Wade still managed to pull off a huge brakeless flair-whip, which was the first time he had ever attempted to try such a monstrous trick. No foam pit necessary for this Canadian. Pro class aside, there were some amazing AM standouts from the day, and none got more people raising their voices and their fists than young Nathan Royes. He literally tore the park apart, from getting as tech as you can on all the rails, to hitting big airs on all the quarters and hips. He won the AM good class hands down, and could have possibly trumped the next class up as well. We’ll call it right now, and say Nathan is the next young shredder coming out of the Canadian Concrete jams to make some noise.
Thanks again to all of our generous sponsors: Norco bikes, Haro, Premium, LRG, Dragon optics, 3ride bmx shop and Colony. And a special thanks to our judges: the legendary Dave Osato, the smooth as silk Dustin Guenther, and the quarter pipe local legend that is Mel Gooder. See you at the next jam on July 31st at Lafarge Park in Coquitlam BC!
