Front Style Magazine recently checked in with Damian from Fucked Up for their 'At Home With..." section. Along with his vinyl, pugs, gorilla masks, and plastic hands Damian was also kind enough to give a shout out to his good friends at Altamont Apparel.

Fucked Up vs. Jonas Brothers

Back in January, we reported that Altamont collaborator and Fucked Up guitarist Ben Cook had landed a gig as an extra in the Jonas Brothers movie Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, playing a drummer. In an interview with Spinner, Cook went so far as to call the JBs "chilled-back guys," which is good to know. Well, Cook's cameo is now online, and not only does he play the drums in the movie, he actually engages in a moment of dueling drum solos with Jonas Brother Nick. In the pretty amazing clip, you'll notice that Cook does a pretty good job playing both a drummer and someone who could conceivably be in a squeaky-clean Disney band. Also: Great hat.

Fucked Up - Year of the Ox

Altamont contributors, Fucked Up continue to celebrate the Chinese Zodiac with their continuing series of 12" singles, each of which pushes track lengths to crazy extremes and indulges the band's most way-out ideas. "Year of the Ox"will be released on September 28 on 12" and digital download.

The A-side features guest appearances from Zola Jesus leader Nika Roza Danilova and the Toronto string quartet New Strings Old Puppets. The 12" also has a 12-minute b-side called "Solomon's Song", which is "a gothic vampire love tribute to Twilight.".

It's Nice to Meet Your Idols...

Damian from Fucked Up got to last week when he and his son, Holden, were fortunate enough to have a bro down with Iggy Pop, Mike Watt (Firehose, Minutemen), and Mark Arm (Mudhoney) at a big free Stooges show in downtown Toronto. Find me something more punk than that, I dare you!

Fucked Up at the library?!?!?

This past weekend Altamont contributors and hometown heroes, Fucked Up, played a very special, and last minute free show at the Toronto Reference Library. Strange eh? But pretty cool and pretty punk rock! Nearly 1000 kids showed up to check out the mayhem in the 5 level open atrium venue. Fun fact: Toronto has the most comprehensive library system in North America, and this is our main branch!

FUCKED UP - Do They Know It's Christmas?

In Fucked Up's annual tradition of dropping a Christmas themed 7"/MP3 they have released a rousing cover of the 1980's Bob Geldoff classic 'Do They Know It's Christmas?'. For the single they have assembled a pretty all star cast of indie hipsters such as Andrew W.K., David Cross, Bob Mould (Sugar), Ezra Koenig (Vampire Weekend), GZA, Kyp Malone (TV on the Radio), Tegan & Sara, Kevin Drew (Broken Social Scene), and Yo La Tengo.

Like last year, this release will be 100% for charity. The money from the sale of this mp3, and the 7" (where this song will be the b-side to a new FU song called "Davids Plan", and will be released mid February) will be split between three groups, 'Justice for Missing and Murdered Ingigenous Women', 'DTES Power of Women Group', and 'Sisters in Spirit'. So please don't illegally download this tune and spend the $0.99.

Fucked Up - Toronto Halloween Weekend

In what has become an annual Toronto tradition, Altamont contributors, Fucked Up will be celebrating Devil's Night and Halloween with an epic weekend of shows with a laundry list of epic bands including the world's greatest hardcore band the Cro Mags, as well as a reunion of Toronto punk rock pioneers Youth Youth Youth (we're talkin' '82 here). This should be utterly amazing chaos. You will live a long life of regret if you miss out on this!
